Today’s Tip: Clean the Refrigerator Door Seal

Wipe crumbs and sticky residue from the refrigerator gasket so the door can close against a clean, dry seal.

Published September 21, 2026

The flexible seal around a refrigerator door can collect crumbs, spills, and dust in its folds. Give this small area a quick clean today—at home or in the workplace break room.

Your quick task

  1. Check the refrigerator manufacturer’s care instructions.
  2. Gently open the gasket folds and remove loose crumbs with a soft, dry cloth.
  3. Wipe the seal with a clean cloth lightly dampened with warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap, if the instructions allow it.
  4. Wipe away any soap residue, then dry the gasket and surrounding edge completely.

Do not use sharp tools, abrasive scrubbers, or harsh cleaners on the gasket. If the seal is cracked, loose, or will not sit flat, follow the manufacturer’s guidance for inspection or replacement.

Simple tips. Cleaner spaces. Happier places.
